Head of Health and Building Safety – Nottingham Community Housing Association

Head of Health & Building Safety, Nottingham Community Housing Association, £69,583 – 76,092

Nottingham | Hybrid working

Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) has been part of the fabric of the East Midlands for over 50 years. We’re a leading social landlord and care provider with a clear social purpose — to provide safe, affordable homes and person-centred support that helps people live independently and with dignity.

Today, we manage over 10,000 homes, support thousands of customers each year, and employ more than 1,200 people who share a commitment to doing the right thing — not the easy thing. We’re a values-driven organisation with a strong sense of place, a positive reputation, and a clear focus on safety, sustainability, inclusion, and community impact.

As we strengthen our approach to compliance, building safety and resident assurance, we’re recruiting a new Head of Health & Building Safety to lead our organisation-wide compliance and safety function. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Assets, this role will play a pivotal part in shaping how we manage health and safety, building safety, and statutory compliance — ensuring our homes and buildings remain safe, well-managed, and fully aligned with regulatory requirements.

You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for health and safety, fire safety, building safety case management, and compliance assurance. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Assets, Property Services, Housing, and Care & Support to ensure our safety systems are robust, insight-led, and clearly connected to resident needs and organisational priorities.

We’re looking for a confident, collaborative leader with deep experience in health and safety, compliance, or building safety — ideally within social housing or a similarly complex, regulated environment such as the NHS or Higher Education. You’ll bring strong technical expertise, sound judgement, and the ability to cultivate a positive safety culture that engages colleagues, partners, and residents. A commitment to continuous improvement and transparent, accountable decision-making is essential, along with a proven track record of delivering change and developing people and teams in a way that brings others with you.

If you want to be part of a high-performing, forward-looking organisation with deep local roots and a strong social mission, we’d love to hear from you.
