About North Star
North Star is a values-driven, innovative housing organisation, recognised with Investors in People Platinum status—where 100% of staff say it’s a great place to work. We consistently deliver strong performance and are proud to be known for punching above our weight.
Our success is rooted in our culture—built on trust, collaboration, inclusion, and integrity. We are committed to creating places where people and communities thrive and where colleagues feel empowered to make a difference.
Flexible, agile, hybrid working operates throughout North Star. After three months, once you are settled, developed relationships, and are proficient in your role, you can (depending on your role) work from any office, your home, or another location. However we all base ourselves in the office at least two days a week, to ensure that we can continue to develop our relationships and culture. This approach was developed by all staff.
The Opportunity
We are now looking for a Governance Manager to play a key role in maintaining and developing our strong governance framework. This critical role supports our Board, Executive Team, and wider organisation to ensure effective compliance, regulation, and decision-making.
Reporting to the finance director, you will lead the delivery of high-quality governance services, working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure policies, procedures, and assurance systems remain robust and future-facing. The role is instrumental in supporting a well-governed, accountable, and transparent organisation that is ready to meet future challenges.
You
You will bring significant experience in governance within a regulated environment—ideally housing, or a regulated private or public sector organisation. You’ll have a strong understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks and the ability to work confidently at Board and Executive level.
Detail-focused and highly organised, you’ll also bring excellent communication and influencing skills, along with the ability to navigate complex issues with discretion and integrity.
Why Join Us?
This is a rare opportunity to contribute to an organisation that delivers real social impact while maintaining high standards of governance and performance. You will join a supportive, high-performing team and play a key role in upholding the values and standards that make North Star such a respected organisation.
If you’re passionate about governance and want to make a difference in a progressive, purpose-led organisation—we’d love to hear from you.
