About Habinteg
Habinteg is a national housing association with a clear and longstanding purpose: to provide accessible homes in inclusive neighbourhoods that welcome and include everyone.
We are a specialist organisation with a strong social mission. Our work combines the delivery of accessible housing with a wider role in influencing policy, design and practice across the housing sector. We believe that disabled people should have better access to homes that support independence, choice and participation in community life.
Over recent years, Habinteg has been through a period of significant change and progress. Following our return to a G1 regulatory rating, we are now operating from a position of greater stability and confidence, with stronger foundations across governance, assurance and financial management.
We have also launched a new corporate strategy to 2030, setting a clear direction for the future. This is an important moment for the organisation as we look to build on our progress, strengthen our corporate capacity and continue delivering against our purpose.
The Opportunity
This is a new and significant executive leadership role at the centre of Habinteg’s next stage of development.
As Executive Director of Resources, you will provide strategic leadership across Habinteg’s key corporate functions, including Finance, IT, Data, Performance, Governance, Risk and People Services. You will act as the organisation’s most senior financial professional and play a central role in ensuring Habinteg has the resilience, assurance, digital capability and organisational infrastructure needed to deliver its strategy.
The role will work closely with the Chief Executive, Board and Executive Team, providing clear advice, sound judgement and robust assurance across financial performance, governance, risk and organisational sustainability.
Alongside strong financial stewardship, this role will also support important areas of organisational change. This includes oversight of a significant IT and digital change programme, strengthening performance reporting, supporting future investment and growth plans, and ensuring corporate services continue to enable the organisation’s wider mission.
The Impact
This role sits at the heart of Habinteg’s governance, financial resilience and organisational effectiveness.
You will:
- Lead the development and delivery of Habinteg’s financial strategy, business planning and long-term financial sustainability
- Provide strategic oversight of finance, governance, risk, assurance, IT, data, digital and people services
- Ensure robust financial controls, treasury management, forecasting, statutory accounts and regulatory returns
- Provide clear advice and assurance to the Board and Committees
- Strengthen governance, risk management, internal audit and assurance frameworks
- Oversee the delivery of the Data, Digital and Technology Strategy
- Support organisational capability, workforce planning and leadership development
- Maintain strong relationships with lenders, auditors, regulators and external advisers
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement
This is a role where sound judgement, credibility and clarity will matter. Habinteg is a relatively small national organisation with a significant mission, and the Executive Director of Resources will need to combine strategic oversight with the ability to understand the practical realities of delivery.
Location & Working Pattern
Habinteg operates a flexible, largely home-based working model, supported by regular in-person engagement to maintain connection, visibility and alignment.
The organisation’s primary office locations are Leeds and London. The base location will be agreed depending on the successful candidate’s location, with meetings taking place via Microsoft Teams and in person at either office location, as well as other venues for Board meetings and away days.
This working model requires leaders who are comfortable operating with autonomy, while remaining visible, engaged and accountable.
The Person
We are looking for an experienced senior leader with strong social housing sector experience and the credibility to operate effectively at Board level.
You will be a qualified accountant, with membership of a CCAB-recognised professional body or equivalent, and will bring a strong track record of financial leadership, governance, assurance and risk management.
Your experience is likely to include:
- Leading financial strategy, business planning and long-term financial sustainability
- Advising Boards and Committees on financial, governance and risk matters
- Operating in a regulated environment, ideally within housing, public sector or social enterprise
- Overseeing corporate functions such as finance, governance, IT and HR
- Working as part of an effective Executive or Senior Leadership Team
- Interpreting complex financial and organisational information
- Building strong relationships with regulators, lenders, auditors and external advisers
You will also demonstrate:
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Strategic leadership capability
- Sound judgement and the ability to provide clear assurance
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- A collaborative and inclusive leadership style
- Integrity, transparency and the ability to build trust
- Commitment to diversity, equality, inclusion and belonging
- Resilience and the ability to operate effectively under pressure
Just as importantly, you will be someone who can contribute positively to a small, committed Executive Team. Habinteg is looking for a colleague who will share its values, strengthen its leadership capacity and help the organisation deliver its purpose.
Salary & Reward
The salary for the role is £131,777 per annum.
The package also includes:
- Employer pension contributions matched up to 10% of salary
- 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays plus an additional ‘Habinteg Day’
- Flexible and hybrid working

- Life insurance cover at 4x salary
- Simply health plan, including cashback on everyday healthcare, GP access and counselling

- Cycle to Work and access to interest-free loans, subject to criteria
The role has a six-month probation period and a six-month notice period.
