Finance Manager, Age UK, Northumberland

Salary: c.£45,000 | Full time | Permanent

Age UK Northumberland is a local charity dedicated to supporting older people across Northumberland. We provide a wide range of services including personal care, befriending, information and advice, and community-based activities. Our aim is to promote independence, reduce loneliness, and improve wellbeing in later life.

We are now seeking a qualified and experienced Finance Manager to lead our finance function. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely financial reporting and supporting strategic decision-making across the organisation. You will also provide business partnering to the senior leadership team and maintain oversight of financial systems, controls, and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all day-to-day finance operations
  • Producing monthly management accounts and detailed variance analysis
  • Preparing annual budgets, reforecasts and statutory accounts
  • Overseeing payroll for approximately 270 staff and a £5.5m wage bill
  • Managing banking relationships and liaising with auditors, investment managers and insurers
  • Supporting risk management and compliance, including Health & Safety record-keeping
  • Leading and developing a small finance team

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT or equivalent)
  • Strong technical skills in management accounting, budgeting, and cash flow management
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
  • Line management experience and the ability to support and develop others
  • Knowledge of charity finance or experience in a not-for-profit setting would be beneficial
